What can cause a yeast infection?
I did do some research on the internet, but I wanted a second opinion. First of all, I experience itching an yellowish discharge, and it’s been at least two weeks after my regular discharge week. This makes me pretty certain that it is a yeast infection.
I’ve done some things that might have caused a yeast infection, and I just want to have a second opinion. I do this because about 75% of women by over-the-counter drugs for yeast infection without telling their doctor, and sometimes it ends up being something else, so I just wanted to make sure.
My boyfriend had thrush a while back, while he had it, he was treated with antifungal medication. We made sure not to do anything at all during that time, including kissing. About 2 weeks after he completed his medication we started doing sexual stuff again. We never go all the way, because I’m still getting used to it, but he has stimulated me orally. Could this be the reason that I have this right now?
A lot of things can cause a yeast infection. If your vaginal area is too damp for too long, you have hormonal changes associated with your monthly cycle or puberty or pregnancy or menopause, you recently changed your diet, or you’re taking antibiotics, you can get a yeast infection. Sometimes there is no obvious cause.
You may have picked up your boyfriend’s thrush from the oral sex (you may have gotten a yeast infection just from having oral sex), but it’s still something that an over-the-counter anti-fungal can’t clear up. There’s no harm in using one. If you’re still experiencing symptoms 7 days after you start the anti-fungal treatment, you need to see your doctor.
